Good Dog / Better Dog Training Classes

Friends of Madison County Animals is pleased to sponsor low cost dog training classes conveniently located in Madison County.  Instructor Cindy Waselesk, of Good Dog Better Dog based in Weaverville, provides years of experience using rewards based training to help pet owners get off on the right foot with their new dog, learn basic obedience to strengthen their relationship with their existing dog and offers expert advice on behavior problems pet owners may be experiencing. Cindy is also an evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen program.

Our beginner session of 4 classes teaches pet parents the basics of encouraging good behavior at home while discouraging unwanted behaviors, how to participate in your dogs daily exercise in many fun and different ways, as well as covering the commands sit, lay down, leave it, settle, touch and many more. The beginner class costs $25 for four classes.

If participants of the beginner class are interested in continuing, we offer an advanced class which covers loose leash walking, greeting people and other dogs politely, as well as more advanced commands such as a down stay. The advanced class is a smaller class with more individualized instruction and costs $50 for the four classes.

Pet and owner teams who complete both levels of classes have the option of taking the Canine Good Citizen exam at an additional cost. CGC certification allows dogs to participate in our Humane Education program, the Library Read to Me program and offer comfort and companionship at local nursing homes. Our classes not only strengthen your relationship with your dog, participants also connect with other pet owners in our community and have been known to continue meeting after the class is over for doggy play dates!

Classes are held on Saturdays.  See the schedule below Contact Cindy to register 828-774-6127 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
