FOMCA is proud to announce that we are not only facilitating the “Read to me Program” with our canine friends in the libraries and schools - but also have been teaching Humane Education in the Elementary Schools, the High School and now the Middle School in Madison County since 2012. We partner with one or two of our canine good citizen dogs and teach the students all about how to be kind and respect their 4 legged friends. We have developed a PowerPoint presentation that covers all the major points of Humane Education. We were invited to present our Humane Education PowerPoint program to the North Carolina School Board Association meeting in November of 2013. A big thank you to Dr. Ronald Wilcox, Superintendent of Madison County Schools and Frances Ramsey, retired teacher for all your help!
We want to thank the Madison County Schools for their warm welcome and look forward to adding to our curriculum and having guest teachers as well. If you are interested in becoming part of our Humane Education teams please contact our office 828-649-9798.
